Orange

A town of just over 7,000 people. Named after William Prince of Orange. Millers River brought industry to the town and around 1900 Orange was the site of the first automobile factory in the United States. The Grout automobile can still be seen in the Pioneer Valley Museum of Industry located next to the town hall. The New Home Sewing Machine co. produced more than a million sewing machines before closing its doors. Orange also hosts an airport where skydiving is featured giving Orange the name of "Jump Town USA." Antique shops, restaurants and shops in the downtown area. Orange is the home of the annual River Rat Race on the Millers River. Scheduled in April it attracts hundreds of canoe and kayak enthusiasts to compete with both serious and wacky water craft. The town also has an annual Harvest Day festival and the Orange Airport has an annual engine show and "fly in" event yearly.
