Gill

Named for Moses Gill, the settlement was originally part of Greenfield, becoming an independent township in 1793. Gill has several historic markers for Indian Battles. One of the campuses of Northfield-Mt. Hermon School is in the Mt. Hermon section of Gill.

At Barton Cove on the Connecticut River, you can observe bald eagles. It is the best opportunity to observe bald eagles outside of Quabbin Reservoir. The state boat ramp off Route 2, just above Turner's Falls, offers the best vantage point.
