The Clark -First Sunday Free: Force of Nature
Artist Yo Akiyama skillfully combined clay, fire, and water to create Oscillation: Vertical Garden, a sculpture that seems to erupt from the earth of the Clark’s campus, on view in the exhibition Ground/work 2025. This First Sunday Free, explore the elements through art-making, art-looking, and all things Akiyama! From 1–4 pm, make clay creations with exciting tools and techniques with our friends at North Adams Clay, and find answers to all your questions about ceramics. Then, place your own small sculpture on a large-scale map of the Clark’s campus to create a collaborative mini-Ground/work exhibition! Discover how artists depict earth, fire, water, and air in a special Print Room Pop-Up from 1–3 pm or experience the elements yourself by walking the Clark’s trails, guided by our Oscillation: Vertical Garden activity card. Don’t forget, you can borrow a pair of complimentary snowshoes right here at the Clark!
