Nehprii Amenii: HUMAN

As part of Community Free Day on June 13, be sure to catch HUMAN, a puppet show written and directed by Nehprii Amenii that asks audiences of all ages what it truly means to be human

Set in a post-human world, populated by puppets made from trash and reclaimed objects, an octopus must decide whether to use one of its three hearts to create a new, more sensitive human being. It must come to this decision with the Council at the Bottom of the Sea, made up of the spirits of Black Bodies who were thrown overboard during the Middle Passage. Touching on themes of connection, Human Rights Ancestral Memory, climate change, and the power of community, HUMAN is a 60-minute performance and immersive experience that draws from African Diasporic storytelling and spirituality, blues, jazz, and soul.
