The Great Hall building was once a machine shop for the Monta- gue Paper Company. This exhibit examines the critical supporting role that metalworking and machining had in launching industri- alization in Turners Falls. High quality newsprint and book paper would not have been made here if not for the knowledge, skills, innovation, and physical labor of metalworkers, machinists, engi- neers, and master mechanics. Our Great Hall is also a program- ming space. If there is a program in progress, you are still welcome to visit the Great Hall to view the exhibits.
