Drawing Closer: Intaglio Intensive
The Manton Study Center for Works on Paper welcomes artists of all experience and skill levels to find inspiration in thematic selections from the Clark’s collection of works on paper. This month’s Drawing Closer is the second of two that are rooted in printmaking techniques. Intaglio printmaking is a reversal of relief printmaking—in relief, the high points of the print matrix create the final image, while in intaglio, the low points do. The techniques represented in this month’s selection of artworks span engraving, etching, drypoint, aquatint, and many combinations thereof. Enjoy an open session to participate in the tradition of copying earlier artworks or choose to practice fundamentals and explore ideas.
Basic materials are provided. Artists bringing their own supplies should note that only graphite pencils are allowed in the Study Center.
Registration opens one month prior to event date.
Free. Advance registration required.
