Drawing Closer: Center Stage
The Manton Study Center for Works on Paper welcomes artists of all experience and skill levels to find inspiration in thematic selections from the Clark’s collection of works on paper. This April, we celebrate the 150th birthday of one of our founders, Francine Clark. Francine began her career as an actress with the Comédie Française; this iteration of Drawing Closer honors her by putting some of the Clark’s performance-related prints and drawings on “center stage.” All of the works in this month’s selection are drawn from Francine and Sterling Clark’s personal collection of prints and drawings, accessioned by the museum at its founding in 1955. Enjoy an open session to participate in the tradition of copying earlier artworks or choose to practice fundamentals and explore ideas.
Basic materials are provided. Artists bringing their own supplies should note that only graphite pencils are allowed in the Study Center.
Free. Advance registration required.
Registration opens one month prior to event date.
