Bobbi Angell: Copper Etchings in Bloom – Art Exhibit

Bobbi Angell, of southern VT, is a printmaker, scientific illustrator, gardener and observer of the natural world. Throughout her career, Bobbi has illustrated pen and ink drawings, created expressly for recognition and identification of individual plant species, working in close collaboration with scientists from The New York Botanical Garden and other scientific institutions around the world.
Copper etching allows a natural extension of Angell’s compositional style with an enhanced focus. Designs are drawn onto a ground on a copper plate, etched with acid, and hand printed in small editions. A select few are individually colored tinted with watercolor. The subjects of Angell’s etchings are influenced by her scientific, horticultural and artistic interests featuring both native plants and cultivated plants, as well as tropical.
A member of American Society of Botanical Artists and New England Society of Botanical Artists, Bobbi exhibits in juried shows around the country, and her prints have been displayed at garden events.
