Big in The Berkshires - Locale with Love - An evening showcasing emerging local artists & performers, spearheaded by 5 Pound Horse

In some circles, “local“ music is looked down upon. 5 Pound Horse see it as a badge of honor, a mark of respect in the community where they live.

With thoughtful songwriting, layered instrumentals, and songs that shift between intimate and anthemic, 5 Pound Horse blends Americana, folk, and indie country into a sound all their own.

Their music is rooted in the rural northeast but resonates far beyond- stories of longing, change and place, wrapped in melodies that stay with you. The band has been selling out Studio 9, exciting crowds at MASS MoCA, and packing audiences into the listening room at The Dream Away Lodge. Their standing-room-only shows are not limited to regional favorites like Steeple City Social and the Red Lion Inn. They have toured Europe with The Durgas, rocked out at Uni Hog, and sold out 2 nights at Pittsburgh’s legendary James Simon sculpture studio. Not least, they play weddings, backyards, and community fundraisers, developing their audience — neighbors, folks at the local garage, parents from their children’s schools, and strangers who saw them putting up posters — 1 gig at a time.

The band is proud to have been invited by Adams Theater founder, owner, and artistic director Yina Moore to put together an evening of rich, original music from some of the most compelling voices in Western Massachusetts. Some performers who take the stage on October 10 are friends who have been playing together for decades while others are rising stars who are newer to the scene.
