The book documents the stories, sacrifices, and lives of Civil War soldiers specifically from the Berkshire County region,

Dennis Pregent adds a fourth book to his historical military profiles series centered around the
northern Berkshires in Massachusetts. In Hometown Heroes in the Civil War: Berkshire County
he has written about those from this area who fought in the terrible and bloody US Civil War.

Historic photos and documents support the stories of twenty-seven men who answered the call to
fight for their nation, some of whom did not return home. Broken families, fierce battles, forced
marches, prison camps, remarkable coincidences, sickness, and bravery fill the pages of these
accounts. These are stories you will think about again and again.
