Heath

Home of the Heath Fair, held every August, it's a true agricultural fair with horse and ox draws, agricultural exhibits, food booths and concerts. Once officially part of the town of Charlemont, Heath was incorporated in 1785. Now a community of around 750, in the 1800's Heath claimed a population of 1,200 and had many small farms and mills. Blueberries are the main crop and some farms offer pick-your-own opportunities. The town is and has been home to many writers, artists and other celebrities, among them Reinhold Niebur during the writing of his "Serenity Prayer", and former Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter who spent summers in The Dell.
