In conjunction with Renoir: The Body, The Senses, Images Cinema and the Clark Art Institute present Being in the Body. This series explores the experience of being in a body, one's own or another's. What does it mean to be in a body? What does it feel like? Do our bodies define us, or is there something more?

A Skin So Soft (Canada/France/Switzerland, 2017)

Artfully observing the world of male bodybuilding, Quebecois filmmaker Denis Côté crafts an intimate portrait of six latter-day Adonises and their everyday lives of ritualistic workouts, extreme diets and elaborate posing, all in service of achieving perfectly sculpted physiques. Capturing the physical brawn and emotional complexity of these men with wit and tenderness, A Skin So Soft is a self-reflexive rumination on the long tradition of filming the human body that also offers a fascinating perspective on contemporary masculinity.

Run time: 1 hour, 34 minutes..

Additional films in the series include:
Being John Malkovich (US, 1999), June 15, 2 pm
Margarita with a Straw (India, 2014), July 20, 2 pm

Tickets for each film can be purchased at the Images Box Office, located at 50 Spring Street, Williamstown. Tickets are $8 general adult matinee admission, $5 Clark and Images members.
